A Look into World War 2 Through Correspondence

Weekly Writing 10/11

This week was one of exploring and sharing. We spent days researching about the topics we chose for this project based on world war 2 and gathering letters to back up our claims. I really enjoyed the process, although it was difficult at times to find letters that could exactly match with what the message I was trying to send through my essay. However, I found great books and articles from universities that helped me show how women grew as individuals and the feelings they had either working on the frontlines or in the workforce at home. As for presenting, this was my first time utilizing PechaKucha and there were both positives and negatives with the process. I really liked how it forced us to get straight to the point and talk about the necessities of our paper and the research we had worked on. I also enjoyed the fact that I really didn’t have to be up there presenting for so long like I normally do with presentations like these. A negative would be trying to cram as much information as possible onto each slide as they moved along, and the stress that I felt if I went too long talking about one slide when the next one would appear. The presentations themselves were all very interesting, I like how there was a diversity in topics and the way each individual approached their research and formatting. Commenting and giving feedback was also helpful because it made us pay close attention to other presentations and gain knowledge and different perspectives on letters from World War 2.
