10/31
For this course’s final project, I want to focus on the value of letters and letter writing as a whole. Throughout the semester we looked at different kind of letters in different contexts and they each showed us the true significance and impact of letter writing. That it’s not simply words being exchanged but it’s the how and the why. I want to explore what makes letter writing so unique? How can it be a better form of communication? How has it impacted lives and relationships? I want to dive deeper into the meaning of this class, why it’s important to care about historical letters and the changes that letter writing has undergone over the decades. When someone asks be about this course what it entails and its importance, I want to be able to answer thoroughly and with meaning. I want to look at letter writing in different contexts in times of both peace and strife. I also want to explore how much weight letters hold in our history and the secrets that can be derived from them. I am planning to look at all kind of letters we have read about and explored and tie them into the value of letter writing as a whole practice and field to study. I plan on studying English so I’m bound to see letters show up in my field of study somehow and I think it’s important to dive deep into why it’s so important to be looked at in the first place and what it means for language, translation, and the human condition.
