Writing Project

For my project on letter writing in World War 2 I plan to explore, read the letters of, and write about women in world war 2. I found an incredible source online from Bryant University called U.S. Women and World War 2 Letter Writing Project, that not only runs through the significant impact that women had on the war but also provides letters from U.S. women that were under looked. The letters give us insight into how women grew as individuals during this war and their important contributions to the war effort. I also found a book called We’re in this War, Too: World War II Letters from American Women in Uniform to help with my research. Another area that I wanted to explore under the umbrella of women in the war is women of color and an all black female world war 2 unit who delivered a large backlog of mail to American soldiers that were stationed in Europe. Overall I want to dive into the women’s feelings, and actions through correspondence as well as specifically focusing on women of color and their words and contributions in the war.
